Min Jiang showcases China’s distinctive Cantonese and Sichuan cuisines in a striking newly revamped modern chinoiserie setting. The mastery of both regional specialities including dim sum and reimagined classics have received much recognition since it’s opening in 1982. Thought-provoking menus and seasonal specialities, inspired by traditional Chinese cooking and local ingredients sourced from many Chinese provinces as well as all over the world. Located in the well-preserved Goodwood Park Hotel, this restaurant offers dining with a cozy setting, perfect for friendly gatherings, a romantic night out or perhaps even a wedding reception.
No expense was spared in the renovations from textural walls made using material imported from the United Kingdom to the contemporary floor tiles which seems to flow beautifully along the length of the restaurant like the famous Yangtze river. The kitchen team are made of true believers in keeping culinary traditions alive, with their collective many years of experience and inspiration to use fresh, simple ingredients contributing to reputable excellence renown throughout Singapore and beyond.
Highly recommended is the Min Jiang Appetiser Trio that has mouth-watering bite size morsels of Deep-fried Lobster Medallion coated with an uber creamy lemon sauce, Chilled Baby Abalone with a spicy plum sauce for that delectable sweet sour mix and Sliced Pork Roll with shredded cucumber and garlic sauce. Alternatively the Min Jiang Dim Sum Duo consisting of steamed prawn and carrot “Rabbit” dumpling that looks too cute to be eaten together with deep-fried pork “Char Siew” and pine nuts in Glutinous “Carrot” pastry is just as tantalising. Roasted Chicken Skin with Prawn Paste in Sesame Pockets is exceptional, a fun “do it yourself” dish that brings back memories of old where sesame dough fritters were eaten for breakfast. This time reinvented to be a pocket to house the tantalising chicken skin, prawn paste with cucumber and melon strips plus a special sauce made from a secret recipe.
Min Jiang offers diners the chance to explore flavors most often commonly found in China with a delightful twist by use of certain ingredients from Western countries. The impressive Stewed Wanton Noodles with Argentinian Red Prawns is one such example, a favourite dish for many with a twist using the delectably tender wild patagonian shrimps caught in the cold waters of Argentina. For those who need some rice to end their savoury course, the Poached Rice with Abalone and Seafood in Superior Broth is an excellent choice. Conclude your meal on a high note with Deep-fried Purple Sweet Potato Crispy Milk, extra crispy on the outside and oh so creamy on the inside or the refreshing Chilled Hasma, Red Dragonfruit and Lemongrass Jelly with Honey Sea Coconut.
