Indonesia’s National Swimmer, Glenn Victor Sutanto Shares Travel Inspirations with Savour BlackBookAsia Magazine

Glenn has been Indonesia’s national swimmer since 2006, earning multiple Sea Games gold and silver medals for his country. A seasoned athlete at the World Championships with his last major competitive swim at the Olympic Games Rio 2016. Glenn Victor Sutanto shares his travel inspirations with Savour BlackBookAsia Magazine

1. What is your dream destination and why?

My dream destination is Egypt. I’m really interested about ancient civilization history, pyramids and pharaohs. Egyptians are independent nation whose culture was famous for great cultural advances in every area of human knowledge, from the arts to science to technology and religion.

2. Three things that you could never travel without?

I can’t imagine my travel without camera for making memories, comfort shoes to feel not tired and clear plan that we usually prepare with my wife before visiting new country.

3. Which destination surpassed your expectations and surprised you the most?

I was really surprised with Cappadocia. It’s a beautiful place in central Turkey famous for its fairytale scenery, cave dwellings, remarkable rock formations and, of course, the hundreds of hot air balloons that soar in the sky during sunrise each morning.

4. Where and what was your most memorable meal you have ever had while travelling?

The most memorable meal for me was mussels boiled in white wine while seeing Eiffel Tower sparkles in the night. Such romantic and must try.

5. Where are you looking to travel to next?

My next destination will be Russia in the end of December. I’m planning to celebrate new year with my family, enjoy food and snow.

6. What projects are you currently working on?

I working to qualifying agai  for Olympic Games Tokyo..I still have 1 year to do it.. My goal is to be the first Indonesian swimmer that make A cut for Olympics.

7. Do you have any tips or advice for budding athletes?

I believe everything is never be easy.. It’s totally hard work,patience,sweat,etc.. Everything have a long process and when you get there never every forget where you started from.
