Hotel Cabochon, Bangkok

Step into the one and only Hotel Cabochon and be swept back to a time of distinct grandeur and sophistication. A luxurious stay begins as soon as your ride pulls up in front of the elegant colonial facade designed by famed international interior designer Eugene Yeh. Be greeted by the warmth and unforgettable charm of Thai hospitality from the moment your car door swings open at this highly sought after property. Truly a hidden “polished gem” (meaning of The Cabochon) in the capital of Thailand.

Courteous counter staff escorts guests to the reading room to have a seat while assisting the smooth and seamless check in process. Vintage books lined the walls on dark wooden shelves, steamer trunks as tables, brass lamps, candles sets the mood and to top it off, 1920s jazz transport travellers back to a decadent era of old. The well trained staff then serves an entire coconut as a welcome drink to enjoy, this naturally sweet superfood is ideal for cooling off after an easy ride from the airport.

Rooms

Expect nothing less when it comes to accommodations. Taking inspiration from the 1920s, each room exudes a certain rustic old world elegance. One can tell that an effort was made to keep the decor within the era with decorations such as a statue of Mao Zedong which led the Chinese revolution at that time. The origins of the blue willow China plates on display in the dining area might date back to the 1700s in England, but few might know it then had a resurgence in the 1920s when the Chinese mass produced the ‘blue plate special’ for restaurants.

The Balcony Suite’s bedroom is spacious and well furnished with a lovely attached balcony, perfect for a morning read. As Hotel Cabochon is nestled on a small lane off Sukhumvit Road, you are far enough from Bangkok’s bustling traffic but close enough to enjoy the delightful sounds of the city and nature surrounding the estate. Hotel Cabochon is only a short distance from Phrom Phong BTS Sky Train Station and accessible to nearby malls that include the upscale EmQuartier and Emporium shopping centres.
