European Film Festival

The European Film Festival (EUFF) brings the best of European cinema to Singapore. The festival takes place at The Projector from 12th to 26th May 2022. Over this period, movie-lovers will be able to catch 24 films from 23 countries.

The films showcased belong to a specific country while representing Europe’s rich cultural heritage. Centered mostly around fostering mother and daughter relationships, working relationships around women this year. Presented by the European Union (EU) Delegation to Singapore, EUFF shines the spotlight on contemporary European cinema by bringing films to Singapore reflecting Europe’s diversity, inclusivity, and solidarity.

2022 is also the European Year of Youth. The Covid-19 pandemic has impacted youth greatly. As we focus on recovery globally, we need ever more ways of championing the ideas of youth. In this context, we deepen our collaboration with young Singapore filmmakers.

FILM SYNOPSIS

A masseur from the East enters the lives of the rich residents of a bland, walled off community. Despite their wealth, the residents bear an inner sadness. The mysterious newcomer’s hands heal and his eyes seem to penetrate their souls. To them, his Russian accent sounds like a song from the past, a memory of their seemingly safer childhood. Zhenia, for this is his name, changes their lives.
