Nestled within the hallowed, century-old walls of a meticulously restored 1920s conservation warehouse, where the legendary Zouk once pulsed with the rhythm of the city, Jiak Kim House now tells a different kind of story—a delicious one. As Singapore gears up to celebrate SG60, this historic space has been transformed into a sanctuary of modern Asian elegance, with its soaring ceilings, exposed timber trusses, and a scallop-shaped pediment that stands as a testament to its storied past. Amidst the warm glow of ambient lights, custom rattan furniture, and rich terracotta hues, the restaurant’s “Multiracial-Inspired Communal Menu” invites diners to embark on a patriotic gastronomic journey that is both a tribute to its location and a celebration of the nation’s diverse heritage.

The culinary mastermind behind this feast is none other than Chef-Owner Seow Tzi Qin. With a profound passion for Singapore’s rich culinary tapestry, he has woven together a menu that is a vibrant and heartfelt expression of national identity. Chef-Owner Seow Tzi Qin artistry shines through in each course, transforming familiar flavors into breathtakingly new experiences. He has masterfully orchestrated a symphony of tastes, drawing from the deep wells of his heritage and infusing each dish with a touch of playful innovation.

The adventure begins with an enchanting Indian and Nyonya pairing in the Roti Prata Lapis & Mushroom ‘Bak Kut Teh’, where the pastry dance with a fragrant, earthy broth, a cheeky nod to two beloved local legends. This is followed by a silky-smooth sensation: the Malay-Cantonese Seafood Otah ‘Chawanmushi’, a delicate, quivering custard that holds a hidden fiery heart of spicy otah. This dish is gorgeously plated and has various tantalising textures and flavours, making it one of the highlight of our meal.

The food party continues with a bold Chinese-Hakka mash-up that’s a true crowd-pleaser: the Chilli Crab Abacus Seeds. It’s a theatrical and spicy homage to our national obsession, reimagined with a delightful Hakka twist. Served over red curry with oyster leaf and finger lime for that added acidity. A truly Singaporean-Italian romance blossoms in the Laksa Hokkien Fettuccine, where the fragrant, creamy richness of laksa bisque lavishly coats al dente pasta, creating a fusion that feels both surprising and deeply comforting. We love the taste of ulam mixed herbs with the premium obsiblue prawn.

Our taste buds then travel to the Malay-Hainan crossroads with the magnificent Hainan Curry Pork Mille-Feuille, a stunningly layered dish that stands as proud and grand as our nation’s aspirations. Juicy on the inside and covered in puffed rice, served alongside grilled pineapples. The savoury climax is a daring and delicious Chinese-Cantonese creation, the Coffee Marmite Beef Short Ribs, a rich, dark, and umami-laden surprise that will leave you absolutely craving more. This “DIY” course adds a fun touch where you can wrap these delectable morsels in lettuce with some cucumber pickles and other condiments.

To end on a sweet and triumphant note, choose your dessert victory! Will it be the Eurasian-Hainanese Kaya Pandan Tiramisu, a sublime local twist on the classic Italian treat, or the refreshing Eurasian-Cantonese ‘Yang Zhi Gan Lu’, a tropical masterpiece of mango, mikan, and passionfruit? This menu isn’t just a meal; it’s an immersive experience in a house of stories, a delicious and joyous celebration of the cultures that make Singapore home.
