Cocooned and lying nestled in the leafy thereabouts of Ocean Way in Singapore’s theme island of Sentosa, resides a hotel like no other! It is the W Singapore – Sentosa Cove, built in 2012 and whose façade with the letter ‘W’ emblazoned conspicuously. One will enter the hotel with a myriad of attractions within its tastefully manicured walls where artworks intricately adorn. The lobby is right past a carpeted stairway giving a nuanced touch of something of a regal welcome. The vast expanse of the lobby is something to behold.
Making the hotel a cut above all its peers in Sentosa in how it ensures the cool, soothing comfort of its visitors, as well as to providing an object lesson to what wracking the brains in the wonders of architecture can really amount to. For culture vultures, this property never disappoints. Right from the time a guest enters the premises, one is greeted at the reception. That is unlike others where the lobby, reception, front office and perhaps even the concierge are all, fused into a single spectrum.
Aligned symmetrically, the entire layout and architecture of the property is something to partake in. A noticeable cachet are the hotel’s external walls. They are built in a way to withstand heat emissions to expel the heat from outer environs. W Singapore – Sentosa Cove’s lobby, is spacious with a distinctly copious layout. Adjacent to the left of the sofas is where lies the infra-red wall bound elevators, to the guest rooms.
Accommodation
The range of rooms and suites will be a good fit for all kinds of travellers. Highly recommended is the Fabulous, 2 Double, Pool View with Balcony room. Super comfortable beds for a restful sleep after a day out and about enjoying the property’s food and beverage as well as nearby activities. The balcony has ample seating where you can enjoy views of the swimming pool with your love ones.
Any preference for standing shower or bathtub, this room category has both which you can enjoy with the MOMO moisturising bath amenities with yellow melon extract from a farm in Italy as the key ingredient. There is even a face-wash and body cream by yet another well known brand Skin Regimen provided for your convenience. Do not be surprise that you are spending more time then usual in the bathroom with all the world class products provided.
Dining
To the right of the lobby are two lounges. One is laid out with sequinned cushions in armchairs where you can enjoy a cuppa or even have afternoon tea. And the other is the vaunted WOOBAR – a watering hole designed for those who enjoy a well concocted drink over good conversations.
Lest it be confused with a woman’s apparel, SKIRT is very much the supposed ‘centrepiece’ of the hotel. The iconic luxury resort with views of the marina has the possibility of leaving one mesmerised. The environment promises a soothing and calming effect, which is what sets this abode apart from all others. Patrons to SKIRT can adjourn outdoors to feel the sensory sloshing of waters from the sea.
With an unwavering commitment to redefining the culinary landscape, the brand-new SKIRT exudes a vibrant and sophisticated atmosphere blending key elements of the hotel’s signature and playful style. The minute a guest enters SKIRT, one will be greeted by an immersive style of sleek lines, setting the stage for an ambience unmatched by any other hotel around and promising a culinary discovery.
The layout of SKIRT ensures that space abounds with it’s high ceilings and well distanced seating. But the attraction is clearly the scrumptious menu and selection of food. The refreshed menu includes locally sourced ingredients and premium cuts of meat to deliver a tantalising array of textures. An exceptional selection of prime cut steaks, fresh seafood, and vegetarian wood fired delights, are prepared with expert craftsmanship, as are the fine wines. The 2011, Château Simard, Merlot, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru is so good that you might even consider getting a bottle.
There is no naysaying, it is exciting. An epicurean may just have to agree. The chef and his team dishing out his masterpiece one by one of the hotel’s signature dishes, such as the Dry-Aged Duck served medium rare (depending on the size, it is typically aged for seven days). A must-have when dining at the restaurant is the Omi Wagyu, that simply melts in your mouth. Accompanied with yuzu kosho, kampot pepper and a pinch of sea salt, all of which pairs amazingly with the meat. There is even a choice of knives for your courses, presented by the well trained staff.
