Singapore’s Inaugural Bold Conversations By Veuve Clicquot

An evening gathering brings together four female trailblazers (Johanne Siy from Lolla, Asia’s Best Female Chef of 2023, Sarah Bagharib, founder and director of Crazycat, and Rachel Lim, co-founder of Love Bonito, moderated by Naomi Yeo) in the Lion City to discuss their personal perspectives on the findings at Mandala Club. BlackBookAsia Group, Founder, Gabriel Tan, shared “These ladies are at the top of their game and offer valuable insights into women leading the way in industries around the world.”

Spanning 25 countries across five continents, the pioneering study was conducted as part of Bold by Veuve Clicquot, the esteemed champagne house’s renowned global programme aimed at enhancing women’s inclusion, impact, and visibility in business. Singapore’s inclusion in this study marks a significant milestone, providing valuable insights into the local landscape of female entrepreneurship for the first time.

A glimpse of the barometer findings below:

  • Compared to 25 countries, Singapore boasts one of the lowest gender gaps in entrepreneurship, standing at just 4%. However, despite positive indicators, certain gendered biases and inequalities persist.
  • While women are acutely aware of the risks associated with entrepreneurship, their motivation remains undeterred. However, in order to shatter the glass ceiling, 48% of the surveyed women believe that female entrepreneurs must emulate male behavior to succeed. Women are also convinced that they face greater criticism compared to their male counterparts.
  • In Singapore, although 77% of women draw inspiration from female entrepreneurs and 82% of aspiring entrepreneurs recognize the importance of having a role model, only 35% of them can actually name a female role model.

Committed to highlighting the legacies of audacious female leaders throughout generations, Veuve Clicquot also encourages women to join the Bold Open Database — a pioneering online platform that profiles and connects female entrepreneurs worldwide.

In 2019, the Maison reinforced its support to female entrepreneurs by launching an international program: Bold by Veuve Clicquot. Bold by Veuve Clicquot is a program designed to help improve inclusion, impact, and visibility. Built through key events across the world all year long, Bold by Veuve Clicquot supports women entrepreneurs and gives them a voice, encouraging future generations to be even more audacious.

Bold, in response to society’s evolution since 1972. The models of women’s success are no longer confined to the business world. Bold to better understand the personality and strength of these daring women. Bold to think about inspiration beyond a purely business dimension. To better understand these women with multiple backgrounds and achievements who have become an inspiration for other women in all fields.
