For a truly authentic Spanish restaurant experience, look no further than Ola Cocina Del Mar. Located in the heart of the Central Business District at Marina Bay Financial Centre, the restaurant serves up traditional Spanish cuisine in a beautiful and relaxed setting. With Chef Daniel Chavez at the helm, formerly from the now defunct Santi at Marina Bay Sands, he prides on the use of sustainable produce in his dishes to achieve the highest of standards. Offering comforting Spanish fares, ranging from tapas to Ola’s signature paellas, diners can truly feel a sense of joy with every mouthful.
With a selection of tapas to choose from, a great way to start the meal is with the Ceviche, marinated New Zealand wild fish is mixed with lime, chillis and red onions. The freshness of the dish truly shines through as all the fishes used are “Line Caught” and “Certified Sustainable”. Pulpo is another must try tapas dish, with the use of Grilled Spanish octopus, red quinoa, Romesco vinaigrette and light hummus. The octopus was grilled to perfection and the overall mixture on the palate was simply divine.
For those with larger groups, the signature paellas are great for sharing. Although there is a waiting time of at least 20 minutes, it is definitely well worth it. The Iberico pork “Rice Paella” with Spanish saffron, daikon radish, cauliflower and spicy aioli is an interesting option, veering away from the typical ingredients of a traditional Paella but the combination of the tender pork, crunchiness of the vegetables and hint of spiciness in the aioli works wonders. The Suquet “Barcelona” also known as the Catalan Fisherman’s stew is immensely flavoured and paired perfectly together with the Hokkaido scallops, NZ wild fish, tomatoes and Spanish Saffron served in the broth.
A variety of desserts and an ‘Ola’ Spanish cheese selection to choose from but no Spanish meal would be complete without the warm classic Churros served with cold chocolate sauce and vanilla pastry cream.
Drink: Wide selection of wines and cocktails. A definite must try is the signature sangria.
