Within the vicinity of busy Tras Street, Maru is a contemporary fusion restaurant and bar that has been gaining more and more buzz since its opening thanks to it’s delectable dishes and wide variety of drinks that goes well with practically everything that comes out of the kitchen.

Do note that Maru does get full during lunch time on weekdays due to its proximity to the Central Business District with its towering office, retail and residential buildings well loved by the executive crowd. Dinner is equally popular for after work drinks and nibbles with friends surrounded in quirky interiors that derives its design from various cultures.

A colourful unique creation that pleases all your senses is White Tuna Tataki well seared topped with nori wasabi, orange ponzu jelly, pomegranate, crispy fried basil and shio kosho for taste. Guests will enjoy a variety of textures with every mouthful.

Green Hummus is an interesting appertizer that comprises of edamame, avocado, white miso in a thick dip best eaten with the salted egg sliced baguette served by the side. The baguette are much sought after by diners and more can be purchase at an additional cost.

A crowd favourite starter from the cold tapas section of the menu is Beef Carpaccio, thick slices of premium beef drizzled over with ponzu for that citrus touch of saltiness and covered with slices of black truffle. This dish is finished with a light yellow colour tobiko lovingly scattered around the meat.

The Uni Ikura Angel Hair pasta is the chef special with generous toppings of decadent caviar and ikura over chilled angel hair pasta bursting with flavours from the added shio kosho and truffle. A sheer delight to one’s palate.

Another inventive creation is the Steamed Spicy Asari, Japanese plump Asari clams packed with all the goodness from the sea cooked Vietnamese style in a broth of savoury coconut milk and crushed fragrant lemongrass.

Desserts here are a pleasent ending to your meal with homemade coconut, yuzu (Japanese citrus fruit) or goma (Japanese Sesame) ice creams that have just the right level of sweetness. Soya Bean Tofu is soft and silky deliciously paired with matcha latte and azuki (red bean paste).
