Mamasan

Serving up modern Asian cuisine in an uber-hip, quirky retro space is Mamasan Kitchen, Bar and Lounge. With inspirations from Asian street foods from around the region such as Thailand, Vietnam, India and many more. Diners are certainly in for a treat, with many of their dishes creatively fused for a truly diverse taste on the palate. The interior décor is a stylized take on colonial Britain in Shanghai in the early 1920s, eluding a feel of East meets West, instantly noticing the beautifully large mural of Mama san looking upon the large dining area the moment you step in.

Sugarcane prawns with rice paper rolls, kaffir lime, sweet chilli and nouc cham

Many of Mamasan dishes are perfect for sharing between large groups, with generous portions and a menu that leaves diners truly spoilt for choice, with items such as the Do-It-Yourself Sugarcane Prawns with rice paper rolls, kaffir lime, sweet chilli and nouc cham. The fun fusion Vietnamese and Thai dish allows diners to wrap your very own rolls, adding in the choice of ingredients before dipping it into your preferred sauce. The La Lot Vietnamese grilled minced pork belly wrapped in betal leave served with nouc cham sauce is full of flavour and at the first bite gives off a savoury intensity, the pork is extremely tender and betal leaves gives it a very nice crunch. Another favourite is the “Dedeng Balado” caramelized short beef ribs with kaffir lime, chilli and lemon basil, the ribs are caramelized to perfection to give the soft tender pork a distinct sweetness but at the same time, the saltiness of the pork works wonders while it melts in your mouth. For a side dish, the Roti Canai is a must-have, it is perfectly crispy and fluffy topped with fried onions. A great complement for curry dishes such as the Red Curry Duck with lychee served with baby corn, tomatoes, thai basil, peas and apple eggplant.
