Situated in the heart of the Central Business District, Lower East Side 45 or LES45, is a cozy Mexican restaurant and bar serving contemporary Mexican inspired cuisine and artisanal spirits. LES45 is part of Hidden Door Concepts who runs a collection of distinct food and beverage concepts in Singapore.

Being on Level 45 of Singapore Land Tower Building, LES45 has an alfresco roof top bar that overlooks the iconic Marina Bay Sands; the perfect spot to have a bubbly Sangria or Margarita to wind down after a day’s work.

The starter of Fresh Guacamole En Molcajete with hot crispy nachos is a great compliment to LES45 cocktails. The guacamole is pounded fresh in a traditional pestle and mortar by chef with juicy tomatoes and herbs right in front of you. Cannot get any fresher than this and its packed full of flavours. A definite must-have.

Another beautiful dish is the Scallop Aguachile, Avocado & Pickled Jicama. This is done carpaccio style and absolutely delicious. The scallops are juicy and smooth with a natural sweetness and the dish is light opening up your palate for the subsequent dishes.

Next up, the Brussels Sprouts, Guajillo, Chorizo & Cotjia in a hot pan. The wonderful scent of the chorizo with herbs and dried chili immediately makes one hungry. The fresh sprouts are crunchy and together with the chorizo gives you a good bite that is surprisingly hearty, given that there are no carbohydrates.

The Chicken Tinga, Mango Guacamole & Wasabi Sunny-Side Up is like an open-faced burger with the shiny sunny side up atop a generous portion of chicken tinga which is made of shredded chicken in a tomato and chili chipotle sauce. The chicken goes really well with the egg, slight sweet sour taste of the mangoes and delightful gentle heat from the wasabi.

For fish lovers, try the Tempura Hake, Hibiscus Mayo, Salsa Fresca & Cabbage. The hake is nicely fried and light to the bite. With the salad and taco, this can be a filling main. Hake are deep-sea members of the cod family and are popular throughout America and Latin America and used proudly by LES45 in this dish that has a appetising splash of colours in hues of purple, orange and green.

The favourite part of the meal for many, dessert was Les Churros with Chocolate Hazelnut Cream. Churros were freshly made, crispy and sweet with cinnamon and sugar, yummy chocolate cream and fresh strawberries. A sweet ending indeed.
