Globally Awarded, Locally Crafted – Tanglin Gin

Globally awarded and locally crafted, Tanglin Gin is not just another brand of the famed liquor but a rich, bold and vivid expression of Singapore, encapsulated in a bottle. Where the best of the Lion City meets the best of botanicals, distilled to perfection. Ideal for personal consumption as well as gifts for special occasions such as the upcoming Christmas season and holiday festivities. The best part, every product is proudly made and bottled with passion at Tanglin Gin’s distillery perched on the famous Dempsey Hill in the central district of Tanglin, where else!

Before we go into the main attractions, the team at Savour BlackBookAsia would like to highlight Tanglin Gin’s Limited Edition Asian Apple Pie Moonshine, which really taste like the fruit pie! A delicious combination of carefully selected blend of spices, ginger and gula melaka, yielding a liquid of golden hues. In our opinion, best taken neat or on the rocks to savour all the sublime flavours. Tanglin Gin emerged from the desire to pioneer. To experiment. To take a chance. That is why the very first batch of Singapore’s Gin was created on the 1st of July 2018 to much applause.

Now for the core products, The Orchid Gin or ‘O.G.’ for short is their first and original expression, beloved to this very day even by us. It is smooth, bursting with herbaceous notes with hints of vanilla and liquorice. The Tanglin Gin family aim for the highest quality in their craft, from production to quality of ingredients used. The unexpected recipes, with beautiful flavours representing travellers from all over the world and locals alike. The Singapore Gin is truly an exotic island concoction with a touch of spice from young ginger, dried chilli seed and zest from oranges plus kaffir lime.

Last but not least is The Black Powder Gin, Singapore’s very first double gold winner at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. At 58% ABV, after tasting we recommend this particular gin to be used for cocktails like the classic G&T to more innovative creations served at the recently opened Tanglin Gin Jungle. Speaking of Tanglin Gin’s new location, there are both air-conditioned indoor and semi alfresco outdoor seating with lush greenery all around. The best seats in the house are actually by the bar, where you get up close and personal with the expert bartenders.

Did you know that the Tanglin neighbourhood was once home to many spice plantations with nature flourishing all around. So apt since Tanglin Gin uses some similar spices in their infusions and core expressions. Stay tuned to Savour BlackBookAsia Magazine for more features on this most excellent venue where distillery tours are also conducted (subject to advance reservations, availability and charges) and when you are there, be sure to grab some edgy memorabilia such as the cool metallic cups and hip embossed coasters.

Tangin Gin has been nominated for Savour BlackBookAsia Magazine’s Spirit Of The Year 2021 award. Stay tuned for the results when voting concludes at the end of the year.
