Dining
Wind down after a day of sightseeing at antiquarian-themed Anouska’s Bar, with house signature Escape To Kaifeng, a gin and chrysanthemum based cocktail amongst other interesting choices to sip on. A spin off from the traditional, Duxton Mary uses Aylesbury duck vodka with touches of aromatic sesame oil, hua teow jio and “mala” Szechuan peppers adding a lovely touch of spice. Served with condiments of tomatoes, pickled green chili, lemon rind and celery that can be mixed with the cocktail or enjoyed separately. For seafood lovers, the Wok-Fried Tiger Prawns is simply heavenly. Fresh deshelled prawns are cooked with a flavourful XO chili sauce, complete with wild mushroom, corn and snap peas.
The Yellow Pot Restaurant, on the other hand, displays one of the most scrumptious modern Chinese cuisine in Singapore of which the roasted duck is definitely one of the best if not the best in town. Over and beyond lunch and dinner, the breakfast served here is exceptional. Must try is the Chili Crab Omelette, an ode to the Singaporean favourite Chili Crab dish with a twist. Three eggs are used to make that perfect omelette with deshelled chili crab dip served with Man Tao (steamed buns). The intensive menu takes on a creative interpretation on the usual go-to Chinese dishes marvellously. Reservations are highly recommended.
