La Galerie Paris 1839 is delighted to present the collection Digital Zoo by Spain artist Okuda San Miguel. The exhibition will be held from 22nd March to 28th April 2019, with the opening night on 25th March 2019, in La Galerie Paris 1839, G/F, 74 Hollywood Road, Central.
The Digital Zoo series depicts a wide variety of animals, including Asian wildlife as a tribute to Okuda’s first exhibition in the region, and other animals that have been well-represented in sculpture and painting throughout his career. Okuda’s distinctive style of geometric harmonies emboldened within tense colors had brought his works to a parallel universe.
In his work, rainbow geometric architectures blend with organic shapes that could be categorized as Pop Surrealism with a clear essence of street forms. His works often raise questions about existentialism, the universe, the infinite, the meaning of life, and the contradictions of society’s false freedom, showing a conflict between modernity and our roots; ultimately, between man and the same.
“Because I believe the reason for Art, apart from breaking down boundaries amongst people, cultures and religions, is basically to make people feel.”, said Okuda
Okuda San Miguel was born in Spain in 1980. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from Madrid’s Complutense University. His unique iconographic language of multicolored geometric structures and patterns on the streets, railroads and abandoned factories around the globe have made him one of the world’s most recognizable street artists of today. Highly sought after for large scale projects, Okuda is perhaps best known for his conversion of an abandoned Spanish church aptly named Kaos Temple, which has become a new icon of contemporary art.
