BlackBookAsia Insights: VistaJet

BlackBookAsia’s database of ultra high networth and high networth individuals and corporates are not new to private jets but with VistaJet, the world’s largest operator of bizjets, concur that the business aviation sector is well-placed to lead the global aviation industry, with regards to sustainability. The commercial aviation industry – as represented by IATA – has set 2050 as the airline industry’s goal for becoming carbon neutral.

But VistaJet has set a far more ambitious target of 2025. It is taking a two-pronged approach to achieving this goal: carbon-offsetting and adoption of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Aircraft engine makers have already said publicly that the engines that power bizjets can already run on a blend of SAF (usually 50% SAF and the remainder jet fuel) and that by 2025 their engines will be able to run on 100% SAF. A target applaud by the team at Savour BlackBookAsia Magazine, BlackBookAsia Group’s media arm.

In terms of carbon offsetting initiatives, VistaJet says 85% of its members have already signed up for the carbon offsetting programs it offers customers. At the EBACE business aviation show that opened in Geneva recently, VistJet has one of its aircraft on static display. Unlike the commercial aviation sector, 2021 and 2022 has been an exceptionally good year, with strong demand for bizjet charters.
