Alcantara Showcases Storied History of Innovation at Beyond the Surface: Unfolding Dimensions

Alcantara, a Made in Italy brand, is hosting Beyond the Surface: Unfolding Dimensions, an art-led exhibition in Southeast Asia. This event showcases Alcantara’s innovation, technology and exemplary craftsmanship. Alcantara fuses contemporary functionality and timeless aesthetic with partnered brands including Lanvin, adidas, RØDE i, and Microsoft. The exhibition gives audiences an intimate look into Alcantara’s design philosophy and its legacy of innovating contemporary lifestyle.

The rich, luxurious fabric of Alcantara was crafted into two astonishing pieces of art by the Italian artist Alberto Biasi. Alongside these magnificent creations is a book chronicling the company’s long-standing commitment to revolutionizing the arts – ALCANTARA The Material of Art, edited by Skira. With its collaborations with some of the most renowned luxury brands in the world such as Bugatti and Aston Martin, Alcantara continues to bring about groundbreaking works of art with its involvement in creative endeavours.

While the event marks Alcantara’s physical debut in the city-state, the brand is no stranger to Singapore’s flag carrier, Singapore Airlines. In 2018, Alcantara was involved in the refurbishing of the then newly launched Boeing 787-10 aircraft where the material was used in padding the business class cabin interiors and seats, ensuring guests’ maximum comfort during their travels. Alcantara’s new initiative, Beyond the Surface: Unfolding Dimensions, marks a continuation of their dedication to engaging in dialogue with the creative world and sparking inspiration for innovative thinking everywhere else.

Alcantara has always been committed to sustainability, in fact it was the first Italian company and among the first in the world – to be certified Carbon Neutral since 2009, playing a pioneering role in sustainability. The company continues to uphold its dedication by pursuing growth and profitability while keeping social, economic, and environmental considerations in check. Alcantara has recently launched a special version of material made of 68% of certified post-consumer recycled polyester certified by the Recycled Claim Standard (RCS) of Textile Exchange.
