67 Pall Mall Singapore is a private Members’ Club for wine lovers. With a collection of 5,000 wines and a staggering 1,000 wines served by the glass, it is home to the biggest and most diverse wine list in Southeast Asia, and one of the largest collections of fine wines in the world. Housed in the historic penthouse of Shaw Centre, 67 Pall Mall Singapore is at the centre of the wine and food experience in Singapore, and aims to be the hub for the wine industry in the region, replicating the club’s success in Europe and beyond.
Founded in 2015 in London, the idea for the club was envisioned when founder and wine collector Grant Ashton found that he had amassed too much wine and wanted to share his collection with like-minded people. Thus, the idea of the club was born. 67 Pall Mall’s first club in London opened in December 2015 and was the start of a group of premier private members’ clubs for wine lovers and fine dining. With more clubs to open in Verbier, and Beaune come summer 2023, membership of 67 Pall Mall offers global access to these locations.
Following a multi-million dollar refurbishment of the former private residence of Tan Sri Dr Runme Shaw, 67 Pall Mall Singapore welcomes members into the club’s spectacular 15,000 sq ft space that spans the entire 27th and 28th floors of Shaw Centre, offering 270-degree views of the Orchard cityscape. The interior evokes a 1920s and 1930s Shanghai art deco feel, peppered with authentic Shaw Foundation memorabilia, paying tribute to the heritage of the location. Not only are the world’s finest and rarest wines within reach, but the underlying premise of the club is to also make wine more affordable. It allows unprecedented access to fine wines that excite, challenge and captivate members.
Singapore’s vibrant culinary scene, love of wine and appetite for discovery has ensured a rapid growth of the wine scene here, which made it a natural choice for our first Asian flagship” says Grant Ashton, Founder and CEO of 67 Pall Mall. Master of Wine Richard Hemming, Head of Wine for Asia has built a world-class, 15-strong sommelier team in Singapore, led by Head Sommelier Roberto Duran who was part of the opening team of the London Club. “It is an incredibly proud moment for us, opening a club in Singapore and presenting members with a list that represents all corners of the wine world. From the impossible-to-access Burgundian bottles to new, emerging winemakers deserving of a share of the limelight” says Richard Hemming MW
All wines in the club are served in Zalto glasses. Meticulously hand-blown in Austria, Zaltos are designed to bring out the best aromas and nuances in every wine. “It has been such a rare and amazing experience bringing a renowned members’ club to Singapore.” adds Kori Millar, General Manager of 67 Pall Mall Singapore. With fine wine comes fine food, and 67 Pall Mall Singapore’s kitchen will offer the biggest menu offering among all its clubs. Led by Head Chef Alex Zhu, who has honed his French culinary sensibilities from stints at Daniel Boulud’s DB Bistro and Les Amis group’s Au Jardin where both restaurants have been featured many times over on Savour BlackBookAsia Magazine.
Photos of the Shaw Brothers and a nod to their long respected film legacy accent the walls along the staircase. Up on the 28th floor is the Naughty Corner and Whisky Bar. A tribute to the London Club’s namesake spirits den, the Naughty Corner sits in what was once the Penthouse’s bedroom. Together with the Whisky Bar, this intimate space seats up to 35 guests and sets the scene of a more intimate lounge experience to appreciate fine spirits. The walls, bar and cabinets are cladded in camphor burlwood, which provides a natural calming scent which is said to lower heart rates, complementing the handmade floral velvet upholstery.
Ultimately, wine is to be enjoyed, not locked away in dark cellars. The opening of 67 Pall Mall heralds a brand new era of wine appreciation in Singapore, with a mission to entice members to pull the cork and discover, taste and savour a new wine. “Being a member of many private clubs around the globe, 67 Pall Mall Singapore is an intimate place where our database of UHNW/HNW VIPs and Corporate Clients around the world will absolutely love.” says BlackBookAsia Group’s Founder, Gabriel Tan.
The team at Savour BlackBookAsia Magazine is happy to announce that 67 Pall Mall has been nominated for Private Members Club Of The Year 2022 (Wine). Stay tuned for the results comes year end.
