Sangsaka

Opened by the amazing team behind Merah Putih is the intimate yet cozy 40 seater restaurant, Sangsaka. Although it may be small in size the outlet is big on flavours, using only the freshest of ingredients and a wide range of traditional flavours, diners will definitely be in for a treat. The menu consists of small, simple and contemporary Indonesian-themed dishes creatively created and put together by Executive Chef, Kieran Morland. Located within the Seminyak-Kerobokan neighbourhood, the sophisticated dining spot is perfect for a date night or gatherings with subtly lit interiors and a well-stocked bar that welcomes you the moment you step through the front entrance.

The Telor

For starters, dishes such as Kerang which uses fresh pearl scallops with yellow fin tuna and lemongrass is smooth on the palate with the addition of lemongrass gives a slight tanginess. The Telor, consisting of a quail egg cooked to perfection with a soft centre that flows out upon being cut open, coconut and trout roe adding an element of saltiness to the dish creating a perfect harmony of textures and flavours. For the mains, the Kambing is a must-try with wood roasted lamb neck, tongseng and shallots. The lamb neck is tender, very consistent and has an amazing smokiness to it. The Kakap, smoked red emperor, where the freshness fish truly shines is served with palm hearts and palm seeds giving an extra crunch to the slightly spicy and salty traditional Asinan sauce.

Nasi Jagung with King Crab and salted egg

Encouraging creativity in every sense of the word, the kitchen is not only limited to dishes placed on the menu. Items such as the Nasi Jagung with King Crab and Salted egg can be whipped up upon request, with the risotto-like corn infused rice, juicy king crab lathered with a consistent salted egg sauce that is not too dry or watery.  For those who are a little more adventurous, there is the daily changing tasting menu, all served in traditional Indonesian sharing style.
