Koji Sushi Bar is a cosy, no frills, sushi counter seating style diner, tucked away along Nankin Row famous for its stretch of restaurants and bars catering to mostly working crowd due to proximity to the Central Business District of Singapore.
Interesting to note that at all seats in this bar have a view of the chefs in action which is added enjoyment to your dining experience.
A simple menu with daily specials written on a side board that includes beverages like sakes and beers.
Highlights of this newly opened bar includes the Chirashi Don, a mix of fresh sashimi such as salmon and tuna topped with a generous serving of salmon roe (Ikura) as well as Sushi Platter that has both raw and seared varieties.
Food are served as they are without much fanfare with all the focus on the taste.
Outstanding dishes in the eleven course Omakase are the Tofu with Pitan egg (Century egg) and Ebiko that is delightful combination of delicious flavours, an innovative and contemporary dish together with Beef Sukiyaki that is packed with vegetables, thinly sliced tender beef in a soup base that is not overly sweet yet still full bodied.
Another modern take on the traditional during the Omasake course is the truffle scented Yellowtail (Hamachi) as well as truffle infused Chawamushi both delicately enhanced by the aroma and taste of truffle used.
Dishes changes regularly due to the availability of fresh produce, do check with the service staff during your visit and if you like to have Omakase, it has to be pre ordered before 3pm each day as the chef needs advance notice for preparation.
