Opened in December 2014, Kata Rocks faces the pristine Andaman Sea along the coast of Kata Beach. The resort emphasizes modern minimalist décor that reflects the beautiful environment its set in. Founded by CEO of Infinite Luxury and yachting enthusiast Richard Pope, the resort is designed with yachts in mind. The white, blue and grey tones of the sea echo consistently throughout the resort, from the interiors of the rooms to the uniforms of the staff.

The villas mostly comprise of fractional ownerships where the villas are privately owned but taken care of by Kata Rocks, similar to the yachting world. Early December is one of the most popular periods for the resort as it hosts the Kata Rocks Superyacht Rendezvous, a 3-day invite only event which last year featured a total of 20 yachts including Feadship’s 70-metre MY Lady Christine, among many others.

Kata Rocks has exclusive and luxurious amenities and facilities for guests to enjoy. The modern in-resort gym features a wide variety of custom-made Life Fitness equipment painted the azure blue of Kata Rocks. Guests may connect to the internet-based application LFConnect to track their fitness and training progress as well as serves as an in-workout display. Although each of the rooms and villas in Kata Rocks come with in-built infinity pools, the main infinity pool gives guest a forefront of unparalleled and unobstructed views of the deep blue, with access to The Oceanfront Clubhouse restaurant or The Sunset Bar just steps away.

The resort comprises of 34 villas of varying sizes and styles. Each of them stays true to the nautical theme of the property and all feature large terraces with private pools ranging from 7 to 14 meters. Rooms are equipped with kitchen appliances by De Dietrich and Siemens, including oven, hob, wall fridge, washing machine and dishwasher, all integrated cleanly against the pristine white walls and Natuzzi furnishings.

There is no shortage of entertainment available with an Apple iDock device that syncs to the television and sound systems both inside and out on the patio, allowing you to play your favourite tracks or movies. The lights and temperature are controlled by modern one-touch controls that allow guests to set different lighting moods, as well as electronically control the day blinds and blackout curtains.

Dining at Kata Rocks is done primarily in the resort’s oceanfront restaurant overlooking the infinity pool and sprawling Andaman sea. Led by executive Chef Laia Pons, the restaurant brings the best of Mediterranean seafood with Spanish influences. For breakfast, guests may enjoy the spread of fresh fruits, bread, freshly squeezed juices and sparkling wine. There is also a selection of breakfast dishes available to order such as Eggs Benedict and a variety of Thai dishes.

The Restaurant – Dinner

For dinner, not to be missed are the Seafood Platter for 2 which includes fresh Thai blue crab, Australian lobsters, Fine de Claire Oysters and prawns, served with mayonnaise, cocktail sauce and sherry vinegar. The Barceloneta Rice especially highlights the Chef’s Catalan flair with perfectly al-dente rice cooked in a seafood stock that shines through with its bright and complex flavours. Guests are offered a variety of other dining experiences as well including dining on the large rocks at the shore of the property as well as in villa dining and barbeques for romantic dinners and villa parties.

Wine Cellar

Right beside the restaurant is The Sunset Bar, which serves a variety of beer, wines and liquors including their own brand of Kata Rocks Gin, using more than 17 Thai botanicals, and is served in their famous Kata Rocks Secret cocktail. Underneath the infinity pool, the property stocks a wine cellar with a carefully curated selection including 21 wines by bottle, made possible only by the Enomatic system.

The Infinite Luxury Spa is a modern take on the traditional Thai spas seen across the Kingdom state, with modern treatment features like color changing treatment rooms used to address imbalances in a guest’s body during treatment as well as a water bed treatment with a color changing, temperature adjustable water bed designed to create a perfectly comfortable and relaxed environment. As well as an energy pod room seen in Google and Apple headquarters with closing pods to rest and rejuvenate.

A treatment begins with a health assessment, allowing your therapist to get a better understanding of your needs. You are also given a choice of refreshments post-treatment that will be ready once you step out from the treatment room. The Sense of Thai Aroma treatment features elements of temperature, scents and sounds throughout the experience. To begin, the therapists close your eyes while they give you a warm, heart-shaped semi-precious stones while they clean your feet. During the treatment, ambient music is played, and the massage oil is constantly kept warm over a candle, making for a more enjoyable experience.
