Located along 73 Amoy Street is the casual yet unmistakable, Alati restaurant, with its beautiful whitewashed walls, bright interiors and the use of blue and white themed décor reminiscent of Santorini, the restaurant exudes a relaxing atmosphere while seemingly transporting you to the beautiful islands of Greece during your meal.
Named after the Greek word for ‘salt’, Alati restaurant stays true to their sea-to-table ethos by taking immense pride in serving the freshest seafood and selections the Aegen Sea and Mediterranean have to offer. They fish are packed in ice and flown into Singapore overnight three times a week once they are caught by the fishermen at the Port of Thessaloniki and Chalkida, in order to maintain authenticity and high standards of their dishes. Even their extensive range of wines are carefully handpicked from the Nemea mountains vineyards in Greece, ensuring the perfect pairing of food and drink.
A great way to start the meal is with the classic Greek salad, light and simple, it consists of a lovely combination of fresh vegetables topped with feta cheese and finished off with Greek olive oil. A variety of dips are available as well, from the traditional Tzatziki to the Taramosalata made with cured fish eggs and served with baked pita crisp. For the ideal complement to the dipping sauce, the toasted pita is fluffy and packed full of flavor, it is a perfect side for sharing too.
For the mains, the Langoustines grilled with Ladolemono, the Greek version of lemon sauce, has the right combination of tanginess and saltiness partnering naturally with the grilled seafood, an absolute delight for the taste buds. A true testament to the amazing produce on offer at Alati, a must-have is the Salt-Baked Seabream fish. A performance dish that is backed up by its incredible flavours, the fish comes wholly wrapped in a mountain of sea salt and the crust is cracked open tableside before the staff proceeds to debone and plate the dish. The fish is incredibly fresh, soft and moist with a nice balance of saltiness, a truly authentic taste of Athens, were the dish is widely served.
